Gat the itch and rattled off a few poems and just thought I'd share.
Enjoy
Thunder
Slate gray breezes
Flapping foliage
Waves in the grass
May may not be the gentlest of months
And June will be hot.
Fixated on the frost she pouts
The brightness below belies its presence
What to do, what to do
Accept or deny, accentuate or conceal
In twists and waves it cascades over shoulders and down her back
He sees not what troubles her
He is blinded by the fire below the frost.
The light of truth
Throws shadows of intent
Past deeds been done
For reasons unclear
The Big Picture yet unfinished
As painters come and go
Leaving brush strokes melded
Some conservative, short, precise
Some liberal, loose, sweeping
The masterpiece in progress
The land of the free
The home of the brave
America the beautiful.
Crimson adultery
Alike & Different
Full-bodied & Biting
Smooth & Mellow
Shiraz & Merlot
I could learn to like this.
Pursed lips she reprimands him
?I don?t wanna go to bed?
Dark eyes beckon a reprieve
Even as eye lids flutter exhausted
She does not get her way
She still loves her Grampy
A tree of purple blaze
But came one spring a wicked gale
That other trees did raze
That brutal wind proved much too strong
The tree trunk?s innards shattered
Its life did seep from fractured bark
Its leaves hung torn and tattered
Despite best efforts done in vain
The tree was brought to naught
Left only there were sucker limbs
Protruding from its stalk
Bent and braided into one
Tied upright they grew
Now again we have that purple blaze
Our lost tree born anew.
Sipping his Mocha Latte by the window of the Perfect Cup
Cherub faced boy stares into his furrowed face
Doing his best to incite a smile
Tiny feet propelling him in circles around the coffee house
As the level in his cup drops
The lines in his face soften
As the cherub bounces gleefully behind couch and chair, hide and seek
Despite himself he cannot help but smile
Whether the sweetness of cherub or beverage one cannot be sure
But the grin on his face takes years off his look.

Getting "real" in personal relationships.................
by Sunnygal41 in"...generally, by the time you are real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby.
but these things don't matter at all, because once you are real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand..." the skin horse in "the velveteen rabbit" .
i was killing some time looking at different topics on the forum this morning, and i came across this wonderful, poignant comment in the infp thread gretchen started.

Higher Education
by eiu2003 inwell, let's try posting a topic.
one of the things i felt i missed out on while i was a witness, other than wild sex when young is higher education.
i quit hs to pioneer and now have just recently finished a college degree and am still working on my masters, but i find myself resenting that i have had to do this all at night and while in my forties.

Waiting ...nope that was just rude.
Both Thunder and I are going for our degree, I am almost finished with my Associates and he is doing Biomedical informatics. I will be going on for my BA and maybe more ..... Both of us are writers but I DO NOT give a rats patoooty if my posts are grammatically correct. I do try to be articulate and spell correctly but when it comes down to it I don't care, I spend enough time in the real world being articulate and precise....so you all get the fodder LOL As far as resentment I did that but now I am embrassing my education, I have been published, I have read for the Board of Trustees at the college and at a Writers seminar and downtown. We will be doing reading here in KC and Chicago. I am a historian with Phi Theta Kappa which is the honor society. Do I wish I was younger and doing this....nah I wouldn't have grown children telling me how proud they are of me...that in itself ROCKS
ooops didn't realize I had logged in under Thunder this is me Sheila M

I think Mr. Cosby was only trying to stir the thinking process of his audience. There is in my opinion weight in his words. Regardless of how we wish to speak, we are subject to the opinions of those we might seek employment from, people in positions of authority and those we may happen upon walking down the street.
For a sector of society to be constantly bitching about their lot in life, and yet embrace practices and attitudes that in some encite racist remarks, is self defeating and foolish stubborness.
Wether you like it or not you are judged by how you speak, how you dress and how you act. I run a small home repair business and while some one might be more than qualified to go into a clients home and make the needed repairs, if they spoke in such a manner as Mr. Cosby talked about, I wouldn't even think of hiring them.
Its about time for those in positions of influence to encourage such ones to be the best they can be. Education is available to all. Hell the only people that pay for college any more are 40 year old white men. People should be responsible for their own situation. They have to be the ones to choose to rise above their circumstances. There are too many "easy ways out". alcohol, drugs, crime.
Embracing diversity has never been one of mankind's strong points. We are supposed to be the "United States" but we are anything but united.

I have a pretty good collection of Knives& Swords. I also collect rocks, polished orbs, and of course books.
Sheila and I have already filled every bit of available bookshelfing and I have been requested to build some more. Mind you now we read the books we collect. I know a lot of people who collect them just for looks.

A Man?s Obsession
One owner vintage 1964 soft top convertible.
Body is straight, no dings or dents, cherry.
No junk in the trunk and the suspension has never let me down.
Seat?s soft but firm, flawless upholstery, headrests to die for.
Sound system; never know for sure what?s going to come out of the speakers
And the volume control is directly proportional to your tone of voice.
Headlights seem to come on all by themselves when it?s cold.
That?s not a bad thing.
A bit hard to get started in the morning, no choke though.
Just let the sun shine on her a bit and she starts right up.
Never been abused, original miles, real head turner.
